How can one man make a difference in someone's life? I know that I was left on this earth for something magnificent. I wasn't just left here by accident. As I was discussing some new ideas with my friend Barbara, I told her that I want to help people help themselves. I like to help people, I like to meet them, tell them a funny story about me or whomever and make them smile. And well she said, after you do that, ask them to pass it forward to the next person they meet. So I've decided that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to print up 1,000,000 business cards with my name, my title, and my web site on it. After I meet someone, I'll give them a card and ask them to go to my site and register to be one of my million smiles. Then I'll ask them to pass it forward to make another smile and to add their name. But I don't want to stop there. I'll ask them for a $1 donation and ask companies for larger donations. I'll then donate that money to a deserving charity of my choice. How does that sound? Do you think one man can meet one million people? I'm going for it, starting today Feb 4, 2009.

God ain't taking me yet!

After almost a week and a half of enduring what I thought was a pulled muscle, I had tremendous leg and back pain. The pain was very close to what I had when I had my gall bladder removed. I almost went to the ER that night. On advice from a friend who after hearing of my ordeal, told me to go to a "walk-in" clinic immediately to have them look at my leg. She thought it sounded like a blod clot. After hearing that, I followed her advice and sought out a local doctor. After a veinous doppler revealed a blod clot in my right calf, I headed to the ER where I waited for two hours before being seen.

Although it's uncertain how I got my blod clot, they say it can come from long periods of driving or sitting in one place for more than 8 hours at a time. A clot can form in a matter of hours. You could even get it after a plane trip. I had what was called a DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) is a blood clot that forms in the leg veins, typically beginning in the calf veins. It is often mistaken for a pulled leg muscle (what I thought).

A week ago, part of the blood clot broke off (which is very serious!) and traveled up to my lungs. This is known as a Pulmonary Embolism. This makes sense as I had tremendous leg pain followed by back pain. The next day I went to the ER. The doctors said it saved my life. If the clot that broke off and made its way to my brain, I could have suffered a stroke or lodged in my heart...even worse, instant death.I'm on two powerful blood thinners; heparin and coumadin. They don't get rid of existing clots but they do prevent new ones from forming. In time the body will help to dissolve the existing clot and then it will be absorbed into the artery wall and become scar tissue.

The body has an amazing healing power and does an excellent job of doing it on its own without meds. The crazy thing is, is that the part of the clot from my leg that broke off and went to my lung actually moved through my heart. I'm lucky it didn't stay there. It then went to my lungs through my pulmonary artery. This is also known as a PE (Pulmonary Embolism). The doctors have told me that a person could still survive with one side of their lung, but I also had small blood clots on my left side as well as the larger one on my right side. As for prognosis, I will be on Coumadin for the next six months and will be tested to make sure I meet the INR (International Normalized Ratio) level of 2.0 which is the number I need to have in order to leave the hospital. After 6 months I will be taken off the drug and will be able to lead a normal life.

I recently spoke with a friend of mine who is one year older than me. He told me he had a PE in his lung ten years ago and he's very active and very athletic, lifting weights, etc. So I should be fine. I do have to take it easy and obviously because I'm on blood thinners, I won't be able to play sports or run around with scissors or run into things. There goes my run for the U.S. fencing team.

I'm hoping to go home today. It will be one week since I've been in the hospital. I was kind of in denial the first few days. I didn't know what I really had and how dangerous it was. I'm lucky to be here! I'm learning more every day. And I also have to watch my Vitamin K levels which are most leafy, dark greens, but also there are other culprits as well.

One of the reasons I'm writing so much of this in here is I want to educate people who might think what they have is minor. DON'T DO WHAT I DID and WAIT. I WAS VERY LUCKY!

Nicholas

Ten sure fire ways to tell if she or he is interested in you!

Ten sure fire ways to tell if she or he is interested in you!

1. The feet: If her feet are pointed towards you, there's a pretty good chance she is interested in you. Remember that feet are in many instances extensions of human g**itialia. So if you are playing footsies with one another, please get a room!

2. Touching: If he touches your arm, or places his hand on the small of your back. Or if allowed, touches your cheek or some part of your body, then YES he is interested in you!

3. Is he animated when he talks to you? In other words, if he is stiff with his arms at his side or attached to his hip, he's either very nervous or will make a lousy lover. Yet if his arms are moving and he looks enthused he's most likely interested. You're going to want the guy that has good movement when he's sitting across from you, it will be a tell-tale sign of how he'll be in bed!

4. Is he leaning back in a slouched position? If he's leaning toward you, he's interested in you because he is mezmerized by this beauty in front of him. Or he has really bad hearing and can't hear you. But chances are he is interested in you.

5. For women, the legs are a great sign if she is interested. If her legs are together at the knees, she is in the submissive posture. Or if her legs are crossed and bobbing up and down, yes she is interested. Keep the legs together unless you want to do a Sharon Stone move.

6. If she has a bounce when she walks; this is usually noted in the breasts but also in her walk.

7. If she tosses her hair or touches a part of her body while talking to you, she's most likely interested. Especially is she glides her fingers across her body.

8. If she shows her tongue to you while talking. YES! She is interested.

9. Good eye contact is crucial. It also shows interest because the eyes have a language all unto themselves. Try it next time you are out.

10. Watch out for this clue!!! If she crosses her arms, or places a pillow across her chest, she is trying to build a boundary and chances are she is NOT interested in you. She could be cold, but more likely than not, she is not.

I hope these quick ten items will help you discover whether someone is interested or not in you. Body Language says an awful lot!

Exercises in Sensuality

Nicholas Patrick has a BLT in Sensual Studies. He's written several hundred articles on the subject and has published a Spoken Word CD entitled, "The Art of Intimacy, Volume One." Here is an exercise in building and testing your sensuality.

It's Autumn! So it's a great time for an exercise in Sensuality. Go buy your favorite apple that you like to eat and then write a story about eating the apple. Be as descriptive as possible. Use every sense: taste, smell, touch (texture), sound, and sight. Tell me how the apple feels in your hand. Is it heavy? Is it tart? Sweet? or Juicy? Then go beyond that. Tell me about the juice in your mouth, if it runs down your chin. Does it explode in your mouth. Is it cool? How does your tongue react to the acid in the apple. Tell me every thing you can about that experience of eating that apple. Sounds of biting into the outer skin, the colors the smells, I want it all! Be as descriptive as possible. Believe me. It will make you more observant thus opening up your sensuality.

It's an exercise in observation, vulnerability, and expression. To me sensuality is the same thing. It's arousing or exciting the senses or appetites. Learn to build your imagery.

When you feel something with all of your senses it arouses you. It's the same with people. I think it's a good exercise. I use it for when I write.

I'll post some examples of some of my work and will also post my version-off to the store.

Make sure you post it to this thread. By sharing our thoughts, we will be able to open our minds to even more.

If you're shy in posting anything here, email me. I'd love to read your descriptions!

The Art of Intimacy, Volume One

When I wrote the stories on this CD almost six years ago, I never realized what an impact it had on women.
